JAC threatens series of agitations in Manipur

Imphal, Mar 6 : The Joint Action Committee (JAC), formed by local residents to press the Manipur government for punishment of killers of Sub-Divisional Officer Th. Kishan and his two staff members, on Friday threatened to launch a series of agitations for urgent action.

In a statement here, JAC Convenor Y. Kapur said they launched a poster campaign ('punish murderer cadres of NSCN-IM' (the Naga outfit which allegedly killed Kishan and two officials') from on Friday.

He said there would be huge rally of cycle rickshaws, all over valley districts on Saturday to press for their demand for punishment of the Naga militants who killed Kishan and his two staff members on February 17 last in Senapati district.

The statement said Manipuris in Delhi would also launch a sit-in protest on Saturday to draw attention of the national media to the gruesom killings.

Official sources said preliminary investigations had revealed that Kishan, a former lecturer of Delhi University who joined Manipur civil service last year, refused to sign paper containing list of "fictitious" names of benefeciaries of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).
