Manipur Hill Areas Committee peeved

IMPHAL, Jun 20 : Hill Areas Committee (HAC) of the State Assembly has expressed strong reservation against the Government’s order of constructing 159 new Anganwadi centres in the hill districts which has come along with the list of the work agencies. A meeting of the Committee was convened at around 11 am today to discuss the matter.

It is said that after the Government had taken a decision on constructing 159 new Anganwadi Centres in the hill districts, the order issued for construction of some centres in the first phase has come along with a list of the work agencies.

The meeting felt such order is in violation of the norm and should be reviewed. Accordingly, it was decided to take up the matter with the Government and the Minister concerned.

The meeting also decided to convene an another meeting of the Committee on June 26 to discuss the issue related to deployment of Police Commandos and IRB in the hill districts. Members have also been directed to prepare the agenda in this regard.
