Four Lup activists booked under NSA

Imphal, Aug 11 : Four out of the five arrested activists of the Working Committee of Apunba Lup have been detained under the National Security Act (NSA) by the state government today after they were produced before the additional CJM, Imphal this afternoon around 2.30 pm.

The arrested delegates of Apunba Lup detained under NSA were identified as Thounaojam Surjit alias Naobi Singh 36, son of Th Sanayaima of Chanam Pukhri Mapal, Phurailatpam Devan Sharma, 41, son of Ph Brajabihari Sharma of Singjamei, Dayanand Chingtham, 45, son of Ch Nanda Kishore of Uripok Basaspati Leikai, Karam Sunil Singh, 38, son of K Kokil Singh of Ithai Khunou Bishnupur, presently residing at Keishamthong Top Leirak.

Besides, the lone woman who was arrested by the police on August 5 together with the delegates of Apunba Lup, identified as Leimapokpam Nganbi, 40, of Haobam Marak Irom Leikai was also produced in the same court this afternoon and given further judicial remand for 15 days.

In the meantime, soon after the activists were brought out of the courtroom they shouted slogans like, “Long live Manipur, we condemn the July 23 incident”.
