following the arrest by Manipur police commandos of a 11 years old girls from her house on August 14.
The victim identified as Salam Bidyarani Shanu, daughter of S. Dewan of Nongmaikhong Mayai Leikai was taken away by the Manipur Police commandos on August 14 who reportedly came looking for her father.
Unable to track down her father, the commandos took her away from her residence apparently to coax the father to surface from hiding.
Now the girl cannot be trace, and whereabouts are uncertain, although sources said she is lodged at the Mayang Imphal police station.
The guardians of the child now are demanding the state government and concern authorities to have her released as soon as possible.
A joint action committee, JAC, formed against the arrest of the school going child, was formed and its convenor Ningthoujam Memchatombi told the media during a press conference that Bidyarani who is only 11 is a student of Class VI at Immanuel Grace Academy located at Nongmaikhong, Bishnupur District.
She said the girl was staying at the school`s boarding facility. But because of some health problem she was brought home by her parents a few days back.
Her father Salam Dewan is a farmer.
On August 14, when her father was away from the home around 11 am a combined team of security personnel came to her residence and asked about her father`s whereabouts.
When she replied her father was away from home for some work the police team took her away and she has been missing since.
Further, JAC convenor further compained that the police teams are hanging on at the residence of Salam Dewan for the last few days waiting for the man to surface from hiding.
The police team told the family that until the Dewan is produced his daughter will not be release.
Dewan is said to be be in hiding fearing he would be killed by the police commandos.
On the other hand continuing presence of the police commandos at the girls`s residence the neighbourhood of Nongmailhong, mainly farmers are reluctant to go out to attend their fields fearing security attrocities.
The JAC has also submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Manipur, pleading him to intervene and have the girl released immediately.
They also demanded the police team behind the incident should be given severe punishment according to law. They also demanded the police commandos should be abolished.
They further demanded that the chief minister of Manipur who is encouraging these activities and is unable to control the crimes committing by the Manipur Police Commandos should be made to resign from his post immediately.
The JAC also threatened to launch agitations if these demands are not met.
