Imphal, August 24 : Kuki Welfare Association Chandel has clarified that there were no instances of deserting thier villages in the areas of Khengjoi Block and Sajik Tampak areas by the rrespective Kuki villagers after the villagers were threatened to collect their household taxes by the under groind UKLF.
Clarifying this, Manei Thangja secy Information and publicity of Kuki Welfare Association Chandel during the press conference held this afternoon at New Checkon Imphal mentioned that the recent publications claimed by the one of the outfit Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF) that the villagers at Khengjoi Block and Sajik Tampak were fled their villagers following the impositions of household taxes by the UKLF, was totally basesless and charged that the statement of the KNLF signed by its publicity secretary was an attempt to foiled the established understanding between the government and UKLF authorities in their Suspension of Operation.
She further mentioned that, there was no under ground named Kuki National Liberation Front recorgnised by the Kukis in the state and the association has also clear kinew that the person undersigned in the recent press statement of KNLF Lunmintang is a sub-deputy collector of the Kuki National Army (KNA) and he was using the name of KNLF for accusing the UKLF as part of their rivalry revenge, she added.
The spokepersons of the assocaition also further mentioned that, the oufit UKLF had never committed any forms of tax collections to their fellow people and there was no instances of collecting the land patas from the villagers for driving the house taxes from the kuki people into th very areas, but there were intances of disecting the S Moljon village and included into their dominated village Chabungphai village recently.
She also critised the motives of the KNA to disintegrate the community villages of kuki inhabitants by sending their intruders by naming KNLF, Pakan Army and Telsing Liberation Army and such motive of KNA will certainly created major hindrnace to the on going SoO with the government and other Kuki outfits in the state and appealed to avidsuch practices of KNA in the interest of the Kuki communities of the state, she added.
