A midfield tussle between Hockey Union and Khongman Students Club at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium in Imphal on Wednesday. A Telegraph picture Imphal, Nov. 11: Hockey Union today whitewashed Khongman Students Club by 11-1 goals to take the lead in the 3rd Manipur Hockey League played at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium here. Hockey Union has so far collected 16 points in the league while Cosmopolitan Youth Club are close behind with 12 points, followed by Manipur Police Sports Club with 11. Uchekon Youth Athletic Club have six points, Youth Club-cum-Information Centre are on four, Khongman Students Club have two, while Yaiskul Athletic Club are yet to score a point. Khongman Students Club, now in sixth spot, seemed lost and clueless as Hockey Union launched numerous attacks. They somehow managed to come up with a lone goal in the second half while Hockey Union slammed home seven goals in the first half. Kh. Renal Singh opened the account for Hockey Union with a hattrick, scoring in the second, fourth and ninth minutes of play. Later he also put in four more goals in the 17th, 23rd, 42nd and 51st minutes. L. Shitaljoy Singh fetched three goals while M. Surdash Singh added one to the Hockey Union tally. L. Heramani Singh fetched the lone goal for Khongman Students Club in the 37th minute. N. Jilele Singh of Hockey Union was declared the Man of the Match. Second Division Hockey: Moral Education Intellectual Renascent and Athletic Association defeated Social Youth United Club by 12-0 goals. W. Roshan Singh and Th. Kiran Singh fetched four goals each, O. Tolen netted two goals while S. Happy and Th. Chingkheinganba scored a goal each. Th. Kiran of Moral Education was adjudged the Man of the Match.
