The 2nd Manipur International Documentary, Short and Animation Film Festival, 2010 organised by Films Division, Mumbai, in collaboration with Manipur Film Development Corporation (MFDC) started here on Wednesday.
"During this festival we are trying to exhibit 27 films. Out of which six films are Manipuri films, which are produced by the Manipuri directors. There is a good award wining film that has been screened and awarded during the Mumbai International Film Festival," said Dr. K. Sobita Devi, Managing Director of Manipur Film Development Corporation Limited.
Sobita Devi added that the festival would provide a good platform for the screening of various documentary films.
"We have initiated to organise such kind of venture since last two years because we have organised this festival as a venture in the year 2006. After that in 2007, there was a set back in the MFDC (Manipur Film Development Corporation Limited) because in that year all companies of MFDC were burned down and after that we are trying to have such kinds of festival because film development corporation stands only for promotion of the film activities and this festival is one of the activities to be organised by MFDC," said Devi.
'Vietnam Symphony', a 52-minute film directed by Tom Zubrycki, which won the 2nd best film award at Mumbai International Film Festival 2006, was the opening film of the festival.
Altogether 27 films will be screened during the three-day festival that will continue till Friday.
The films include 14 films from the MIFF package like Vietnam Symphony, Zero Degrees of Separation, the Black Road and others, six films of Film Division on Manipur. (ANI)
