IMPHAL, Aug 12 – At last blockade-hit Manipur has begun to witness sale of petrol and diesel through petrol pump outlets after a gap of over three months.
A day after Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Yumkham Erabot confirmed the open sale of fuel, half a dozen retail outlets in and around Imphal town started to open their shutters and began open sale of petrol and diesel to its customers.
A government order was issued in this regard. In view of the improving stock position of POL products particularly petrol, diesel and LPG, the State Government revoked rationing of POL products enforced since April 26 last.
According to official sources, 84 kilolitres of petrol and 210 kilolitres of diesel were distributed to 23 retail outlets across the State. A good number of two wheelers and cars were witnessed today at retail outlets to refill their oil tanks. Long queues were seen in front of retail outlets since morning till late in the afternoon.
