IMPHAL: Fencing on a 10-km stretch along the Manipur-Myanmar border at Moreh is progressing, mainly to check free movement of militants of northeastern States across the international border. This was stated by Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh in the Assembly on Wednesday. Moreh has become an international market following legalisation of border trade on May 12, 1995.
From the numerous arrests and recovery of weapons, it is clear that many militants return to this region after making purchases from international gunrunners.
