IMPHAL, March 3 – More than 60,000 Manipur Government employees including secretariat services under the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees Orgnisation (AMGEO) have threatened to resume the cease work strike if their demands are not met by March 9.

An ultimatum signed by AMTUC and AMGEO’s acting president Dr M Rajendra Singh and Manipur Secretariat Service Association (MSSA) president Th Muhindro has been submitted to the Chief Minister in this regard on Tuesday.

Implementation of the 6th Central pay in toto, rectification of pay anomalies, renationalisation of Ad-hoc, casual, muster roll and work charged employees, restoration of die in harness scheme, etc., are among the deamnds of the State Government employees, according to a Press release.

Sources from the JAC of the employees said that they would be compelled to undertake the indefinite cease-work strike as the government is yet to translate agreed points included in the MoU signed between the apex body of the employees and government on May 14, 2010.

In the MoU, the government had agreed to translate the agreed demands into work within six months. But even after nine months, no work has been taken up, the statement.

A joint meeting of the JAC and MSSA held here on Monday decided to serve an ultimatum to the government before they launched the cease-work strike.

The statement said employees have been forced to launch the cease work strike, and they understand the losses to be suffered by the people of the state by the strike. But, they were compelled to do so as government is insincere in addressing to the demands of the employees. It is up to the government to avoid the strike, it reiterated.
