CM lauds own party for fulfilling cherished dreams of the hills

IMPHAL, May 14 : As part of a series of welfare initiatives taken up by the SPF governemnt, a district level special training programme on flagship schemes and other schemes of the UPA and SPF government was organized today by Tamenglong district congress committee at Longmai (Noney) III common ground Nungba Sub`“division, Tamenglong district, Manipur.

Chief minister Ibobi Singh while inaugurating the programme this morning at Laongmai village mentioned that, the Congress led SPF government taking serious count on the immediate need for the decentralization of powers to the local self bodies specially the district administrations of the hill districts, held elections to the district councils which have been pending since last many years in every hill district of the state with an objective to deliver powers to all the elected local representatives to administer their services for the welfare of the villagers of the hill districts.

He further mentioned that, the long cherished dreams of the hill people to maintain the local self bodies was fulfilled by the SPF government.

He also added that the state government is looking forward to mend the basic requirement of various districts of the state, and only through such programmes attended by youth leaders and village chairman and prominent social workers and also added that the left out schemes and programmes for the welfare of the villagers could be mended by active participation of the public and discussions.

Further speaking at the programme, the Chief Minister termed the news report that some Jessami villagers are buying power connection from the Nagaland government as unfortunate. However in order to rectify the mistake the state government has already proceeded for installation of 33/11 KV Power sub-stations at Jessami and Namei village at a total estimated cost of Rs.7 crores and the construction works are in the progress.

The Chief Minister, further mentioned that, the state government with an objective to maintained proper district administrations in Tamenglong District, the construction works of Mini Secretariat at Tamenglong District Head quarter is in progress and there has been an additional input of manpower in the district police force with new recruitment of VDF personnel along with the deployment of one SDPO to enhance the proper law and order situation of the district.

He further reminded the public that every progressive activity that have been undertaken by the state government for the welfare of the hill people has been vested to the concerned DRDA of the districts so as to enable the elected representatives of the concerned Autonomous District Councils enjoy their right to district administration.

Later he also elaborated that the SPF government in order to maintain proper health care facilities and other basic amenities like road communications, the state government is planning to maintain a 50 bedded Primary Health Centre at the district and other sub health centres at various sub-divisions of the district.

He further appealed to the people of the district for co-operation on the various projects and programmes undertaken by the state government for the welfare of the villager.

Speaking at the programme, MPCC president and MLA Gaikhangam who attended as the president drew the attention of the villagers to be aware of the various programmes and schemes that have been undertaken up in the areas by the government for development and progress.
In the meantime, the training programme at Longmai village was also attended by state tourism TN Haokip and officials and representative of the Congress party, village chief and elders and villagers.

The programme also witnessed performances of traditional dances by Haochong Dance troops and presentation of traditional shawls to the guests present at the function today.
