NEDFI to monitor and evaluate government projects in Manipur
Imphal, July 20 (PTI) The North Eastern Development
Financial Corporation (NEDFI) will monitor and evaluate the
progress of nine projects being implemented in Manipur with
financial assistance from the Centre and other institutions,
official sources said today. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between
special secretary (planning) Sajad Hasan on behalf of the
Manipur government and NEDFI representatives on July 16. The Manipur government also issued an order on Monday
asking the concerned heads of departments to cooperate with
officials from NEDFI while inspecting, monitoring or
evaluating the progress of work of the projects being
implemented in the state, sources said. Out of the total of Rs 46.71 crores sanctioned by the
Centre (special plan assistance, non-lapsable central pool of
resources) and north eastern council, Rs 45.91 crores have so
far been released, sources said adding that monitoring and
re-evaluation of these projects became necessary to find out
whether the work done so far matched with the amount release
so far. Also, the quality of work would be checked, they said. The nine projects included construction of bridge at
Lamlong on Imphal river, construction of infrastructure of
Tamenglong Higher Secondary School in Tamenglong district,
installation of a power sub-station at Moreh border town in
Chandel district, Keibung Yengkhom bridge on Thoubal river in
Thoubal district, construction of some inter-village roads in
interior districts etc, sources added.
