Manipur MLA dies in Mayur Vihar mishap

NEW DELHI: A Congress MLA from Manipur was killed and another person injured when the car they were travelling in collided with another vehicle at Mayur Vihar on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as E Suraj Singh (45). The injured person, Rezi (46), is undergoing treatment at a city hospital. The incident occurred around 2am. The MLA had come to Delhi to meet his three children , who study in city schools, and had put up with Rezi. They were crossing Mayur Vihar when another vehicle bearing number DL 12 CA 1412 collided head-on with theirs. Singh was killed on the spot. The driver of the other vehicle fled the spot. "We received a call about the accident almost immediately. "We rushed the victims to a nearby hospital where Singh was declared dead on arrival," said a senior police officer.
