IMPHAL, Dec 31 : The commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the "Chinga session" on growth of democratic ideas and political movement in Manipur organised by the Chinga session memorial committee, Singjamei was held today at the Manipur College hall in Imphal.
Dr. Y Mohendra, speaking on the topic `The significance of Chinga session and its impact on the history of Manipur`, said that the first political party in Manipur named `Nikhil Manipuri Mahasabha` was formed in the Chinga session and further related the involvement of Hijam Irawat in the political affairs and his influence in forming the political party.
RK Jhalajit Singh, Padmashri awardee spoke on the topic `Message of Chinga session and essential qualities of political leadership in democracy` while Dr. M Nara Singh, ex-MP spoke on the topic `Irawat`s dream today`s politics`
The function was also attended by M Ibohal Singh, close associate of Irawat and chairman, control commission, MSC/CPI, N Binoy Singh, president of the Senior Citizens for Society, Manipur, Y Ibeni, president of the All Manipur Nupi Marup, W Kullabidhu Singh, ex-MP, RV Minthing, former minister, Ch Nodiachand Singh, senior advocate and Yumnamcha Budhichandra, close associate of Irawat as members of the presidium.
