RIMS regrets chemists` attitude

Imphal, Sept 7: Taking serious note of the recent defiance of the Manipur Chemist and Drugist Association (MCDA) of his order to vacate all except chemists approved by the RIMS authorities from inside the RIMS premisis within five days, medical superintendent RIMS Prof. Dr Y Mohen has put up the issue before the people of the state to decide.

Dr Mohen while speeaking to the media during a press conference this evening at his office, called the MCDA defiance as very unfortunate.

The main objective is to reduce the problems of congesstions created by the loitering salesmen of chemist shops in and around the hospital wards yet ensure medicine is readily available to the patient, he said.

The superintendent further said that it is only after considering all aspsects of the problems that the RIMS auathorities have issued the vacation notification.

He sought the opinion of the people on the matter of allowing only chemists approved by the RIMS authorities to open shops within the campus. These approved shops are also to observe approved guidelines of the RIMS including selling their medicines at approved rates.

He said medicines are to be sold 15% less from the manufacturing price to patients who are below poverty lines while 20 % less for cancer patients and 10% less for every general patients he added.

It may be mentioned that, MCDA has submitted their written complaint to the director RIMs recently to repeal the decisions of RIMS authorities to open some of the approved chemists shops inside the RIMS.

And the opening of the approved chemists shops inside the RIMS is giving an immense shocking threat to all chemists shops of Manipur particularly chemists shops nearby the RIMS hospital.
