Seminar on permanent peace in state soon

Imphal, Feb 18 : The Kuki Forum in collaboration with Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO, GHQ) is holding a two-day seminar on the theme ‘The Kuki-Society: Past, Present and Future’ in the near future.

The forum has taken the initiative to organise the two day seminar for future peace and understanding keeping in view that permanent peace in Manipur will come only when each community forgets the wrong indoctrinations of the past but in stitching the fabrics of differences, Peter Holkhothong Mate, president of KSO GHQ observed in a statement today wihle putting down the them of the seminar.

“Politics has crucified and divided the people, religion created more division and identity invigorates fragmentation.

The felling of brotherhoods is always on trails and temptations,” he lamented expressing concern over the state of situation of the trouble torn state.

The forum is strongly advocates academic discourse to bring unity and strengthening of solidarity.

The two day seminar will be purely academic in retrospection of the history and culture of the Kukis for future prospects of peace and love in Manipur, he added.

Prof Lal Dena of department of history, Manipur University, Dr H Kamkhenthang, former director, Tribal Research Institute, Imphal, Dr S Haokip of Liverpool University, UK, Dr Leban Serto, coordinator, Peace Studies Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong and Centre for Peace Education, Manipur, Dr Josheph Sauntak, lecturer, Moreh College, Dr Priyadarshni M Gangte, lecturer, Damdei Christian College, Kanglatongbi will feature in the seminar apart from research scholars from Dehli, NEHU, Shillong and Manipur University.
