‘Manipur police’s atrocity continues’

Dimapur, May 26 : A students’ organization in Manipur, All Naga Students’ Association of Manipur today said Manipur police forces assaulted a pastor on May 24 at Mao Gate. The ANSAM named police officers IG (Law & Order) V Zathang and Kailun, IPS, as being in command of the police force.
“On 24th May, 2010 the brute communal state security forces of Manipur after assaulting the occupants traveling in a Bolero which belong to the Pastor, Phuba Baptist Church destroyed the vehicle name plate alleging that it is the Naga churches supporting the NSCN to create problems in the state,” a note from the ANSAM said.

“The inhumane action perpetrated by the Indian Reserved Battalions (IRB) and Police Commandos of Imphal West, Imphal East, and Bishnupur under the command of V. Zathang, IPS, IG (Law & Order III) and Kailun, IPS and their very presence in Naga areas must be put to end by withdrawing immediately before more innocent people are harmed,” ANSAM said
The organization expressed shock that the “communal state security forces of Manipur” is systemically provoking the Naga people traveling in the Mao Gate areas “not satisfied with their thirst for bloodshed and physical assaults.” The ANSAM strongly denounced the action of the Indian Reserved Battalions and the Police Commandos under the command of IG V Zathang and Kailun, IPS “who are themselves a Christian”. The organization has demanded immediate withdrawal of all Manipur state forces from the Naga areas.
