Guwahati, July 11 : India's Look East Policy, is attracting teams from South East Asia to explore trade opportunities.
Recently, a Laotian delegation visited Assam and identified tourism, agriculture and hospitality as key sectors for investments.
Laotian Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Nam Viyeketh said: "We are looking for business opportunities in the Northeast through the Lao PDR. There is a lot of scope for business activities in Assam, which we can explore. Water resources, mine, agriculture, tourism, etc. sectors in Assam have attracted the attention of the Lao delegates."
He said Lao PDR would work towards promotion of better business relations between India and other Asian countries.
Sanjiv Narayan, President of the Assam Chamber of Commerce said: "They have shown keen interest in the fields of agriculture, hospitality and tourism. They are keen to invest in these sectors. Our businessman saw the opportunities available in their country and I am sure that they would like to go and invest there."
