IMPHAL, Mar 30 : The CADA quarterly ‘Health for future’ (Volume-1, Issue III) was released today at the Manipur Press Club by Dr. Ng Bijoy, MLA from Khurai at a programme organised by the Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA).
As the chief guest of the function Ng Bijoy said that the people of Manipur should always remember that the organisation (CADA) was working for the welfare of the people, to bring development in the state.
He sought the support of the people for the CADA.
He also suggested that such organisations should focus more on long term plans and the awareness programme included in the school curriculum.
Drugs control in Manipur is under the control of director of health services, and different staffs like drug inspectors monitor dispensing of pharmacists and whether the pharmacists are maintaining the norms in giving medicines with prescription and in keeping refrigerators for storage of vaccines, he said.
As a part of mass awareness to the general public, the chief guest further said that if the concerned government likes, a chapter on health, drugs and alcohol effects could be included in the syllabus.
He further said the excise department and the concerned NGOs need to collaborate on drug control in Manipur and government policies against drugs and rehabilitation of the drug users and sellers formed.
Speaking at the function as guest of honour, Y Mangi Ningthouja, editor of the Matamgi Yakairol said that in the armed conflict situation the state was going backwards and no signs of development and peace were seen at all.
He further said that if the education department includes this relevant topic in the school syllabus it would be very helpful for the youths and children.
