Imphal, May 21 : Amidst reports of high-handedness of the security forces doing the rounds in the state, yet again a report emerged Wednesday about a physically challenged person and his two companions being allegedly assaulted by personnel of the Manipur Rifles in Senapati district.

A press conference was held in this connection on Wednesday during which the All Tribal Disables` Union, Manipur (ATDUM) president, Momo Tatangna, informed that the union had lodged an FIR regarding the incident at the Senapati police station Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Daikho (a physically challenged person) and his two companions M Victor, 20, son of Sherii of Senapati and L Stienson, son of Loli of Senapati.

According to Tatanga, the incident took place on May 14 around 7 pm while Daikho along with his friends were walking in the area between the Senapati police station and traffic point. Around seven personnel of the 6th Manipur Rifles came out of their residential camp and allegedly assaulted Daikho on a false charge of boasting before the MR personnel to which his two companions protested.
