IMPHAL, May 22 : The All Manipur College Teachers’ Association (AMCTA) has appealed the state government to bring the Central Assistance in Manipur and immediate implementation of 6th UGC Pay Scales to all the college teachers of the state.
In this regard, a executive committee of AMCTA held a meeting today to discuss the issues of the association for the year 2009 which was agreed by the state government and department of higher education. The association could not give much pressure due to election code of conduct but now the association believe that the state government will surely go into the matter which was already discussed, with the end of the elections, maintained the general secretary of the association M Lokendro.
A report made by the general secretary in this connection has also already submitted to Chief Minister of Manipur and Education Minister on February 17th, 2009 in which the association requested for implementation of revised 6th UGC Pay Scales to the Government College Teachers.
Also to reserve a seat in the Manipur University for all the College Regular Lecturers who wants to pursue Ph.D in the university by the state government as a part of faculty improvement programme.
Further the general secretary report revealed that the association has asked the state government to immediately make correction of all orders which are having irregularities for all government college lecturers for their placement and promotion.
And by condemning of taking Additional Director of Education (s) as in charge chairperson by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur and asked the Education Minister to review or cancel the order immediately.
The general secretary further noted that the executive meeting has resolved that the state government should agree with the association and immediately implement 6th Pay Scales for all government colleges teachers.
And mention may be made that before when there was no election code of conduct the said UGC Revised Pay has been already implemented at two states like West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh by giving orders by their state government.
The association also feels that the central government should give financial assistance to all college teachers. And the association believes that if the said financial assistance is not taken in time then it might not be available. Therefore the association appealed to the state government to grab the central assistance immediately and carry out the 6th UGC Pay Scales to all the government colleges’ teachers of the state.
