Huge Noney rally condemns Delhi killing

Imphal, Jun 4 : Thousands of protesters rallied at Noney this morning in connection with the murder of a local girl Lungailu Pamei in New Delhi.

The mass protest rally organised by the JAC formed against the brutal killing of Lungailu started with an opening prayer from Khumji bazar and proceeded upto 26 Ar post at Noney after crossing Noney bazar this monring.

It was participated by thousands including volunteers of the Inpui Students Union, Rongmei Naga Council Manipur, Longmai Nishaband, Longmai Naga Women’s Union, Inpui Naga Union, and students from various schools located at Noney and Khumji villages.

The rallyists held placards and shouted slogans like, “Live and let live, kill and be killed”, “Show your manliness in kindness”, “Fair sex is not a toy”, “Life is a precious gift, we want justice”.

The rally after covering the areas near 26 AR gate at Noney returned to Noney bazar shed where a  public meeting was organised. Various spokespersons of different organisations present in the rally expressed words of strong condemnation on the killing and several women representatives urged the concerned authority to give appropriate punishment to the culprit identified as Gaijaomei alias Josh of Noney Part IV who has surrendered to the police. It further demanded booking of the rest of the culprits involved in the murder.

The JAC spokesman further mentioned that the JAC would continue their agitations if their standing demands were not fulfilled. He expressed his appreciation for the public of Zeliangrong for extending  maximum support to the JAC.

Later, while talking to the media persons, the sister of late Lungailu expressed her sentiments over the loss of Lungailu who was the main supporter of their family. The state government and also the hospital where late Lungailu had served had not responded to the demands for compensation despite a memorandum being submitted earlier.

The National Highway-53 remained blocked on both sides of the road at Noney area during the rally and public meeting.
