Over 10,000 Protest at Kakching

Over 10,000 members of the public protested at Ibudou Naohallai Lampak yesterday, over the brutal killing of Shri. Yengkhom Krishnadas Singh. An Ultimatum was submitted to Manipur's Chief Minister, to arrest the killers within a week. State level civil organisations attended the protest to show their solidarity. Protestors expressed anger over the delaying tactics of the state government, in arresting the culprits. Public anger rose after Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh assured the JAC delegation on June 12 that clues pointing to the culprits have been found, yet no concrete steps have been taken to arrest them.
Civil society, human rights activists, and social workers say they will fight until justice is served for the man and his bereaved family members.
Smt. Yengkhom ongbi Bimola, the wife of Shri. Yengkhom Krishnadas Singh, pleaded for civil society and the public of Manipur to help in fighting for justice. The ultimatum submitted to the Chief Minister of Manipur is attached below.
Shri. Yengkhom Krishnadas was abducted by unknowns persons on June 10 from his wife's residence in Imphal, Manipur at around 9.30 PM at gun point. He suffered a gun shot to his thigh and was taken to an unknown place. A ransom of Rs 3 crore was demaded for his release. His wife Bimola negotiated a ransom of Rs 2,500,000.00, yet he was brutally killed.

Sub:- An ultimatum submitted to the Hon'ble Chief Minister, Manipur to arrest the culprits of brutal murder of Shri Yengkhom Krishnadas Singh within a week from the submission of this ultimatum.
Hon'ble sir,
I, the undersigned on behalf of the Joint Action Committee against the brutal killing of Shri. Yengkhom Krishnadas Singh beg most respectfully to submit this ultimatum that as being reported in local media, it is learnt that a woman involved in the brutal killing of deceased person has been arrested.
That subsequent upon it, other persons involved in heinous crime must be arrested at the earliest.
That in the meantime, the bandh launched by this JAC is kept under suspension for the time being while sit in protest will be continued. And to perform the last rites of the deceased person, the dead body is accepted and a procession of vehicles along with the dead body from Imphal to Kakching be permitted to move peacefully. It should not be counted as a compromise.
It is, therefore, prayed that the points content in the humble ultimatum be taken into kind and urgent consideration so that the barbarous murderers be arrested within a week from the date of submission of this ultimatum and such inhuman acts be not allowed to occur in the state.
