Imphal, Aug. 11 : Okram Manisana Devi and Athokpam Suresh Meitei were adjudged the Best Fencers, bagging three gold medals each in the 2nd National Wheelchair Fencing Championship held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, from August 1-2.
Manipur fencers took six gold, two silver and three bronze medals in all.
The three gold for 10-year-old Manisana Devi came from the foil individual, foil team and epee team events. A. Suresh won a gold medal each from the foil individual and sabre individual and another from the foil team event.
Ningthoujam Narmada Devi won two gold from the epee and foil team event, one silver from the sabre individual and a bronze from foil individual event. Nameirakpam Devita Devi won a gold in the foil team event and a silver medal from the foil team event. Ngangbam Maipaksana Singh added a gold in the foil team event and a bronze medal in the epee individual event.
A. Sanatomba accompanied the team as coach and K. Naocha was manager along with Birendra Kangjam, president of the Manipur Paralympic Committee.
