Imphal, Jan 24 (PTI) Senior official of the Indian Oil Corporation, K I Singh, who was kidnapped on Friday, was freed by his captors yesterday at a place in Imphal West district of Manipur, official sources said today.
Singh, a senior divisional manager with the IOC, was freed at Tingri area by the militants who had abducted him demanding a ransom of Rs 1 crore from the oil major.
The abduction had triggered indefinite shutdown of all the petrol refill stations in Manipur yesterday.
Following his release the petrol pumps opened today, the sources said. A militant outfit named Naga people's Support group had kidnapped Singh at gun point while he was returning home from office Friday night, the sources said.
