Imphal, Aug 1 : The first of its kind in Churachandpur, the International School of Western Music, Tidim Road today held its 2nd Thanks Giving Day at the Cozy World restaurant where hundreds of music children, social leaders and church leaders attended the function.

A project of International Music Foundation, the Music School was sponsored by the Hmar People Convention (Democratic)/HPC (D) with a sum of Rs.3.5 lakhs for a two month Western Music Course.
The main event held at Synod Building was graced by Lal Hossan, Executive member, ADCC as the chief guest, Songneilien Songate, social sorker as guest of honour, Kamsuanlun, EM, ADCC as functional president and Khamlian Khup, Secretary, Zomi Council as the chief host.

Special invitees from the Kuki Inpi, Hmar Inpui, Zomi Council and other tribe leaders including church leaders attended the function.

The Director of the Music School James T Joute said theme of the Music School is Peace, Love and Harmony, which is the need of the district, and he is trying to promote through music.

Speaking at the function Lal Hossan said, that music is a universal language and an important instrument to build up the youth of our society towards a more peaceful and developed society.
Training up a child in music other than other harmful activities is a good way of promoting peace and harmony, he said.

This Thanks giving Day is a platform which brings together various tribe leaders of the district and could be a very helpful instrument in ushering peace and harmony in or land, said F.Doliensung, Hmar Inpui secretary adding that the institute honours HPC (D) for its brotherly gesture by funding the project and handed over documents related to the implementation of the music project.

It maybe mentioned that the KNA has also once funded the Music Project for a specific music project to the same institute.

James T Joute said objective of the Institute is to promote excellence in music education.

Till date it eight students from the institute has got placement in reputed international music school starting with appreciable income, and 23 young kids have been trained as mini-musician, he said.

The Institute presently offers Music course such as; Trial 1 month, Basic 6 months, International Course one year and reference to Trinity London School of Music.

James has an experience as Music Director of over 10 years.

The Music School hopes to organize more events in the future to promote peace.
