Hill based bodies decry shooting

Imphal, July 29: Naga frontal organizations condemned in the strongest term the barbaric act of killing a pregnant woman identified as Thokchom Rabina in front of her 3 years old son reportedly by the state police commandos on July 23 at the busy Imphal market in broad day light.

The United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women's Union, Manipur (AWUM), and Naga Peoples' Movement for Human Rights(NPMHR) expressed shock over unrestrained firing.

The organization blamed that the state security forces instead of providing protection and security are extorting and terrifying the people, and this is one of the reasons why the hill people are opposed to the cabinet decision of deploying Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and Manipur police commandos in the hill areas of Manipur, justified the UNC, ANSAM, NWUM and NPMHR.

The government led by Shri O.Ibobi including all the MLAs owe moral responsibility and should resign for failing to address the suffering of the people, they stated stated.

The Naga frontal organizations assured full support in all sorts of democratic protests to be launched by the joint action committee (JAC) formed against the killing of Rabina and her unborn son till the demands are met, they further added.
