'Non-Manipuri labourers get shelter in Manipur'

Imphal, Mar 8 :  Non-Manipuri labourers, who have been asked to leave Manipur by the banned Revolutionary People's Front, were being provided sanctuary by the Ibobi Singh government here.

The state government, which is worried about the killing of around 32 non-Manipuri labourers and migrant for the last one-and-half years, has pledged to do everything to protect all communities in the state.

The labourers have been sheltered at the Dharamsala building in the heart of Imphal market complex here, official sources said here today.

Those in Imphal East and Imphal West districts were also being provided shelter with food being provided by social organisations, the sources said.

Seventeen migrant labourers, staying on rent at private houses at Kongpal Sajor Leikai and surrounding areas in Imphal East district, have also been provided shelter, sources added.
